The holidays are right around the corner, and we know what that means, right? Holiday parties, gatherings and more happy hour on a more consistent basis.
But you don’t have to worry about indulging a bit too much in some of your favorite foods and cocktails just by avoiding this one BIG nutrition mistake.
An occasional drink or two is not necessarily bad but I know lots of people who meet on the same days every week for happy hour. Now there isn’t anything wrong with doing this on occasion but there are the good and bad alcohol beverages you can steer clear of in this Happy Hour Handbook.
Plus, along with having a few cocktails is the sometimes unhealthy choice of food available during happy hour. So when we mix fatty alcoholic beverages with poor foods choices; getting belly fat is no surprise.
Just this weekend I made a poor choice of beverage and food mix that left my pants feeling a bit snug around the waistline.
I did have to celebrate a bit though, I braved ziplining for the first time! It was a long 3 hours in the trees going from zipline to zipline and crossing rope bridges.
Needless to say there were no bathrooms so I had nothing to eat or drink that morning for fear I would be stuck up in the tree having to relieve myself.
After weaving in and out of trees with a group of friends we celebrated with a few cocktails after. We had to celebrate after braving the high altitude and harnessed in.
But after having the few cocktails and feasting on yummy food my pants were feeling a bit tight and I was feeling pretty bloated and uncomfortable.
Thankfully I turned to my friend Nate up in San Francisco who’s researched what the best cocktails are for a lower calorie intake and which foods to pair with it. Now I know what drinks to have and what food I should be eating when I am indulging in some cocktails.
