Trends! They come and go every year. We see a rise of popular workout for a year then it quickly disappears. I remember when step aerobics was “THE” workout to do. People would line up to get into a step aerobic class, wearing spandex, leg warmers and headbands. It was the mid 80’s – 90’s!
2012 was an amazing year for fat loss and fitness. Millions of mean and women shed body fat thanks to breakthroughs in metabolic training with programs like my friend Ben’s Metabolic Mayhem, Mike’s Metabolic Finishers and Craig’s Turbulence Training MRT programs.
If I had to pin point and identify THE trend of 2012, it would be the rise of short intense workouts.
Busy Schedules with work, life, and kids is making it harder each year to stick with a workout program.
Nutrition trends also continued in the direction of focusing less on weight loss and more on fat loss. By focusing on hormones (leptin and insulin in particular) with calorie and carbohydrate cycling and intermittent fasting, the fitness industry is finally admitting that it’s more than the “deficit”.
So that was 2012!
